Photographer’s Note
View of Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend.
The time here is around 7:30pm, still an hour or more until sunset, but allowing for some nice reflections and patterns of light and shadows.
To capture this image I walked out into the lake and used a low POV with a wide angle.
Post Processing:
- Fix tilt
- Convert to black and white

Great shot! I'm a big fan of Black & White and I'd like to see more of it on TE (although it is less popular with the masses, that's for sure). The tonality is good, and I like the gradations as you go from light to black on the lake. Nice V-shape composition too. Adding a duck or a canoe would be perfect to complete this, but you can't have everything. Nicely done!

Hi Matthew:
This is really nice. I love the lighting here. It's too bad the hill on the right is in such shadow. Otherwise it's a great shot. I think black and white works quite well here. Great job.

Hi Matthew.
Excellent shot and I like how you did it in B&W. Great capture of the reflections and ripples in the water.

Hey Matt,
Using B&W makes the lines and details so clean and simple. It shows solid shapes both in the silhouttes and reflection, more into graphic imagery. I agree with Alvin's notes too...
All the best!

Really quite calm and serene, this is a great capture Matthew! The black and white really add to the weight of the photo as well, nicely done.

Hello Matthew,
Interesting view in B&W, even if I have not seen the color one, I find it is working well like this.
I like the grey tones in the left background, at the opposite, I fing the right part too much dark, some more details (not too much) could have given something more.

Hi Mathew,
The black and white tone adds a great deal here .. creates a dark and thoughtful mood.
I think the right is a bit dark .. but the long reflection of the clouds is just overwhelming and marvelous.
take care,
John

Matthew,
Nice sharp shot giving a great perspective, and form, through mostly dark tones - although the photograph itself does not come across as being dark in mood - just nicely balanced.

Hey Matthew,
I like your choice to go with this in a black and white form. I think it's probably more powerful that way than if you had it in color. Great composition and a very pleasing scene.
Nicely captured,
Brian
