Photographer’s Note
So today I did it, in the name of the scav hunt and TE I took a picture of someone I don't know. It's rainy in my city right now, but a few hours ago when I took this the sun was really harsh (any workshops on his burnt knees are welcome) and the streets were full of people. This man was playing his harmonica, and at first I stopped to try and get my courage up to aske if i could take his picture, but I had my headphones on listening to my iPod, I realized how stupid it was to fake interest and took them of, and quite surprisingly his was jamming his way through a Britney Spears track ?!?! not what I had expected, but I gave him a bit of money and asked - he agreed and I snapped a quick one and thanked him, wasn't that hard after all.
This has undergone extensive PS work, I blurred the background because the small digicam still only works fullauto, so no chance of working with DOF on the scene. I lightened up the right side of his face and worked on the burned background, but had little to no sucess on his knees.
Cropped and converted to BnW.

I have to start taking more pictures of strangers as well. It is very rewarding. This is a good shot, and it's even better together with you note. I tried to work on the knees, but didn't manage to do anything good. I think the burnt quality has it's pros as well, it adds a feel of a warm summer day which I like and think suits his expression. I can imagine that it looked pale in color, but it works in B&W.

Hi Line, here one of my and Claude (Clodreno) favourite theme. I always ask them to continue playing withot thinking about me so they appear natural. I add your picture to Street Musician Theme

Hi Line. Good shot of the man, good composition and I think you caught a good expression on his face too. I like your choice of b&w work here, but to be honest, I don't particularly like how you have blurred the background. I have tried the same thing myself on photos from my P&S digital, and I have pretty much come to the confusion that it is almost impossible to get realistic results. What you have done is better than I am capable of, but it sill doesn't seem quite right to me. I would suggest if your camera doesn't provide you with shallow DOF, you are just as well off using what it gives you rather than trying to create something different. Anyways, you are getting better and better at portraiture Line, this is a good shot.

Nice. I would have preferred to see him slightly off centered. However, I lke the pose of your subject and the many other things that can be seen here. The context is well-presented.

Very fine work Line - This capture made in a way that this dosen't seams to be Denmark/Århus - It could as well be some place far away in the eastern Europe :-)
I have considered trying the summer-hunt like your about to do and the summertime surely the right time to find musicians in the steets - congratulation with your fine work.

Ipod? that's cool ;-) I think you got a good expression from him but I agree with Darren that the blurring of the background is not totally succesfull, especially on the left side there is a clear edge along the blurre/ not blurred part.
I'm using a no-control point-and-shoot camera too, so I have tried the same routine in Photoshop but not with much more success. I will advise using a quickmask to do a selection in cases like this since it offers much more control. Still it's very hard to achieve a good edge between foreground and background objects.

Line, a very 50s feel to this picture don't you think ?
It looks like like a scene from Roman Holiday and we'll see Grant and Hepburn walking by behind anytime now...
hehehe, getting nostalgic !
Cool shot :)

Good sharp, nice composition of a street life. The contrast is ok, but the light in many of the white parts is burning of on you, overexpoced and thats a shame.

Hi Line, I love this one, congratulations, feels great, he? to overcome something? It's a very good portrait, it renders him well, nice looking guy, I agree about the blurring, although it gives a nice effect here and there as well. I have done that too, on my night with the balloon sword. The effect is not that goos with my picture. I like your choice of B&W.
Thanks for your rating of my bridge, I slowly got used to different pics, as well. And it seems I like all kinds of picures.
Have a nice day, you're up and well again, I see!

I won't do this, that is why I shoot birds. I agree with Darren in a sence, but I will blur the Bg out. Use the cloe tool. Get something suitable. even from anothe picture, use a large brush size and stamp two or three in your picture, then use this with a smalle brush size and fill the bg. Then zoom in, like at his ears, and use smalle size again, and keep on stamping. Maybe long, but I can't cut-out & work with levels yet.
