Molen de Valk

This is a new picture from the city of Leiden, that I visited last month. You can see here Molen de Valk, that can be found when walking from the railway station to the city centre.

Molen de Valk (Mill the Falcon) is located on the old ramparts of Leiden. There used to be 19 mills on these ramparts, but de Valk is the only one left.
Already in 1611 a mill (called "De Valck") was built here, at het Valkenburger Bolwerk, but that one was replaced in 1667. The present mill was built in 1743 and is 29m high.

une photo dont j'aime le cadrage qui décale le moulin à droite et le choix du format vertical. Une ambiance calme, on appréciera aussi les canards et autres oiseaux des plans d'eau.

Dag Lars,

Een Hollandse molen zoals ik ze graag zie, met behoorlijke weerspiegeling in hte water, het is gewoon een schitterend beeld, met alle ingrediënten zoals het hoort, de fotograaf heeft zijn positie zeer goed ingeschat, mooi gedaan. Beaar deze plek in uw geheugen,want mochten er hier schaatsers zijn als het ijs draagt dan wordt dit de topper! maar nu ook al!!! Bedankt voor uw bezoek.

Hi Lars,
You caught this one in perfect lighting, with fine reflections. I love the hues and tones here, with the windmill nicely balanced by the tree branch angling into the frame. The willows add an extra dash of colour. The overall quality and clarity of the scene is most impressive. A nice one, Lars.

Olá Lars, you know that I love these "Molens". Excellent capture of it in a vertical composition that includes the beautiful reflection. Its placement is perfect, balancing well with the tree and branches on the other side. The light and colors help this to be a really pleasant image to look at. Very well done!

So many things to praise here : the tall windmill reflecting in the quiet water of the canal with its deep blue color, the trees on the sides and especially the willow on the left, the pale winter sky but still blue and clear, th great sharpness in the details.

But I was thinking that, once, I would like to see a windmill in action, with the wings turning into the wind... This is just a general wish of course, not directly linked to this picture.

Lars bonjour.
C'est une photo très réussie autant pour les couleurs que pour la composition. J'aime ce plan d'eau qui fait une courbe devant ce moulin des plus photogéniques. Les animaux et les reflets donnent vie au premier plan. La lumière de janvier est excellente.

What a lovely scenary in Holland in part due to mills, in part due to its lovely and awesome landscapes.

Good reflections in the river. The windmill is well off centered and provides a good balance together with the branches coming in from the left.

Excellent composition. Your choice of vertical format has left plenty of room for the beautiful reflection. The tree on the left fills the frame nicely from the off-centred positioning of the molen. The beautiful winter light has helped to create a wonderful image.

Zo'n prachtige Hollandse molen moet toch weer een toppertje worden. Vooral omdat hij er twee keer opstaat. Ik mis nog wel het type van de molen in je info. Toen je 6 jaar was wist je dat beter:-)

very well captured and nicely framed shot of this impressive windmill. The vertical format is very well chosen and give us good sense of depth and is perfect to include the whole reflection of the mill. Very well managed lighting and also nice colours here.

Hee Lars,
Lang deze ben ik al vrij vaak langsgekomen en deze is volgens mij al vaak gefotografeerd op TE. Ook zie je er vaak toeristen met camera's staan.
Goede foto met uistekende kwaliteit: mooie herfstkleuren (die er nog in de winter waren op een of andere manier, behalve op de voorgrond) en goede reflectie.

Hoi Lars,
ik was van plan richting Edinburgh te fietsen (he, he!) maar ik zag plotseling Molen de Valk in je random photos staan...
Schitterend kwa belichting, kadrage en compositie.
En wat te zeggen van de winterse kleuren : kristalhelder! Werkelijk een lust voor het oog.
Topwerk, Lars, echt TOP!
