Photographer’s Note
.. I finally found her, she was in red like expected, though I didn't know she could speak with her hands better than any italian.
Taken in a Jaipur remote street, I was chasing saris drying in the sun when I spotted this large backlit napkin and my red Momtaz.
Now that I picked up the topic, I'm still amazed with how indians gracefully move their hands when I look at my India pics I'm surprize to get spectacular moves. Do you guys have any classroom work about handmoves or what?

very nice sir. I didn't notice the kid til I opened the thumbnail, she makes the shot! Nice colours of course, and the the girl and woman complement each other. So you're in (or just back from) India eh? I'm a bit jealous!

Two standout things for me in this shot, Luko: the single eye of that boy staring right into your lens, and the way that pink color traverses the frame. A very smart, delicate composition.

Oh this one is brilliant. A wonderful use of layering and conveying of depth without perspective, the division of the frame is remarkable. Love the filtering of light through the red sari on the wire. But I am struck by the fact that my eyes are attracted to the main subject effortlessly, even with the distraction of the foreground girl looking straight into the camera. This is the type of composition I wish I could achieve.

Hello, Luko--
Great work here, the pink sari really sets the mood and leads into the figures at right well. i like how the pink agrees with the pink of the lady's sari and how the angle of the right section agrees with the angled pattern of the child's shirt. Three hands are visible, and they're all actively talking.
Thanks!

actually, italian gestures language differs from region to region...there are special dictionaries on the napoli "slang" for instance, and the napoli people are the most expressive they say....
i found the way you started your note quite curious, sounded like a set randevoues, several times put off in the past, and finally taking place, rewarding, as her being dressed in red...
and the little one? also speaking with hands? what a couple!
best wishes, j.

Hi Luko..
Most of the frame dominated by Red/Pink color..
left side of the frame is quite bright & Thumbnail with Momtaz mark..
At right side..again drop in brightness infact working well.
Every Indian has to join 5 Years training course for gracefully hand moving. :D
Probably that is the thing..making Indian Photos even more expressive.
What body language Sohrab always talks about is just not the Hand sign language but expressions & putting your sole in your thoungs that you are expression..Allowing natural action or reflexes..& only hand is the part that can be move across & even Neck many times..;o)
Though Photo is full of color Luko but still..;)

Ciao Luko,
Very much the kind of photo I would expect in Geo or national geographic, or maybe, in a washing powder add: "With momtaz' powder, keep your sari's colors vibrant for ever".
Another beautiful photo!

The light behind the napkin and the single eye gaze of the little girl. No wonder she has that spellbound hand opened like that. She really casted a spell over me... The Momtaz? Yes, she fills well that right section of the frame. And her red dress is too good here to be true.

These colours, Luko, are already intoxicating to begin with. But that little girl's peeking under the drying sari and her hand gesture somewhat mimicking her mother's is what makes this shot really so powerful to me. I am DYING for these colours; here up in the North we have had a winter filled with dark and rainy days, my hunger is ceaseless. This has been utterly reviving!
Love this series, Luko!

Hello Luko,

of course the light is wonderful through the cloth, but it is the hands of both the child and the woman that are strikingly different here.

Cool image Luko, sure theres the woman talking with her hands as you mention in the note, but I like the kid peeking past the banner in a cheeky fashion.

Cath.
