[Notas - Normas] Nota do Artista
Following on from yesterday's post, this is a view of Lambay Island. The island lies off the coast of North County Dublin 16km north of the city, and is privately owned. This is an easterly view.

When working on this shot, I focused on the island itself, I think the exposure was f/8 for this one, but using 35mm I can't tell you this with 100% accuracy.

A little bit of saturation, some cropping at the bottom (which was pretty dark anyway) and some sharpening in post-processing.

Bonsoir Peter
j'aime ici le cadrage que tu as choisi et qui laiise une grande place au ciel et à son relief. Une certaine tranquillité ressort de cette photo. Bravo
Xavier

Although you focused so far away you still managed to get the foreground sharp. I like the way you captured the wave just as it was breaking. The sky is lovely with those two long jet trails.
Kath

Hello Peter,
The vertical format is very well chosen for your composition, because it gives her more protagonism to this magnificent sky that to the island, though this one gives her title to the photo.
It is true, the sky has a great visual impact and a great aesthetic effect, with the clouds and the stelas of the planes that decorate it as a painting.
There is a good contrast between the tones of the sky, with those of the coast and the island, darker and mysterious.
Well done,
Regards,
Josep

interesting shot, I like the isladns but most of all the sky is wonderful, really nice captured indeed

Hi Peter,
The depth in the photo is impressive, and as Kath has observed, the sharp foreground with the wave breaking really gives the shot some sizzle. The sky is alluring. A fine capture, Peter.

Hi Peter,
The dark, cold sea & coastline contrasts well with the bright sky with its delicate cloud detail and jet trails. Beautiful.
Wishing you health, Love & Joy (HLJ) in this new year, Pat

Hi Peter.

The sky is the mainpoint of this photo. Let a vertical composition where the light is amazing, because the marks over the sky by the clouds and planes create a nice atmosphere.

Regards.

Hi Peter,

The sky is what makes the shot for me, wonderful cloud formations and the two jet trails cutting diagonally through.

Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Peter - the fg is pretty simple, though also pretty enough, the main attraction for me is the ultra busy sky.

Aha, this is the other one in colour... Don't know which one to chose... I like them both ;))

Just a little comment... I hate the electrical wires, phone wires, TV antennas (even satelite), sometimes also asphalt roads... and so on and so on. You know what I mean... a photographer goes to a remote place to take a dramatic shot of the wilderness, to show the "untouched" nature where almost no one has been before... and guess what he find lately on the photo... some of those stuff that I've mentioned before... now I include also the aereoplan exhaust gasses... Soon it will be impossible to make a shot without seeing one of those thing. But what can I do about it... what can I do to save the world from this stuff... I can't allways use a clone tool! HAHAHAHAHA!
Have a nice day,
Tomi

Hi Peter,

I like this because of its simplicity; a little bit of shoreline, a bit more sea punctuated with a couple of bits of the hard stuff and a big sky dotted with fluffy clouds. Maybe it's because I'm in the industry but I like the contrails, in this case it adds a diagonal perspective to the shot. Mind you if my helicopter got that high with contrails like that I'd be getting worried! A fine shot, well seen.

Regards

Stephen

ps. I've got great admiration for you boys (and girls) that use 'proper cameras.'

Hi Peter
i like this verticals frame with contrasting cloudy sky.
Excellent composition.
Well done
Bertrand
