Photographer’s Note
Saturday afternoon I was for matters in Kortrijk, during my come back I saw this castle between the green environment, I took my camera I saw a very beautiful castle, it’s a burg castle with a lovely riverfront around the castle.
You can see the picture, I took this picture out of this angle for have great perspective again, later more about this castle
History from Wikipedia the free encyclopedia.
In the Middle Ages, Ingelmunster was, partly owing to its fortification, an important location in the castlery of Kortrijk (Courtrai) and the canton of Harelbeke. The village fiefdom came under the rule of the lords of Gistel after the House of Rode. It then became part of Burgundy and Cleves, and ultimately subject to the French throne.
The most famous royal resident of the village was Philip the Fair, King of France, who resided in the castle in 1297, five years before the Battle of the Golden Spurs. At that time, Philip was on his way to punish Bruges. The people of Bruges met him halfway with an offer of submission to his rule, on the condition that they be allowed to keep the relic of the Holy Blood. The French king accepted.
I hope you enjoy, thanks to all members for visit to my previous picture. I read different discussions, where I my distance.

Well, John, this is very good and I take my hat off to you. Good framing facing the old building sideways, and including the crisp reflections in a good way to amplify the elegance. The wide focal length enhances the perspective aspect in a nice way, and the brown/ochre color tones of the castle blend well into the autumnal greenery. Good shot.

Hi John, I think I liked the reflection of the castle. It draws attention to the canal and the castle. As always the detail in the 5D is delicious. SO much detail that brings better visual value to this composition.

Goedemorgen John,

Connais tu le Canon 70-300 DO IS (ultracompact)

Dag John,
You got here a nice PoV and a lovely reflection in the water, as often in such views I prefer the reflected part where the tones are deeper, especially considering in the upper part the cloud is overexposed above the right building. In your RAW processing software you should have an option to show the overexposed areas (as well as the underexposed ones), it's a good idea to have this display activated anytime.
Have a nice day, groeten,

Amazing definition John! Technically, the picture is very good. Perfect, if I may say so. The reflection is so good and the simmetry achieved by it is really out of this world. Sorry for all the superlatives, but I can't find any flaw in front of me. Indeed a great exposure.

Dear John, you're really make me think that Belgium is the most beautiful place on earth. This place and your stupend POV and composition and finally the light conditions make me think it at least.
There seems to be some artifact in the lowest left part of the castle's reflections. What is it?

This Focal Length is good for arty pictures, but for a formal one like this why don't you try one at about 18-22mm to take the squashed look out?
It also looks like you've reduced the contrast apart from the building.

Hi John
A very good composition from an excellent POV.
The colors are sharp and well saturated.
The control of the light is good
The reflexion is perfect and a great asset to this photo.
My only difficulty resides with the sky,I do not feel comfortable with it,as it is underpar with the rest of the picture,a loss of details, maybe a little bit overexpose.I believe you re facing the sun here to explain this.If it is,you did a very good job at well esposing whAT is important, the castle.
Have a good day

Hallo John,

Hi John, here i go on the monster picture, even the title is monster ... I can't say how many times i watched this picture, for sure a looot of times ;)
All in it is good, great use and best use of a wide angle upon a 5D, settings impressive as i look carefully to them, i guess some PP, composition is so precise, reflexion is marvelous, and of course the main subject of picutre is a treasure.
Hats off to you, this one was in my tiercé for the best picture in 2006.

Greetings John. A most impressive building made even more imposing thanks to your well chosen PoV which doubles the presence of the castle because of the clear reflection and the angle at which it was photographed. Clever manipulation. The bridge and its reflection, the lawn and the row of bushes on the left, plus the sweep of the sky, all combine to make this work exceptional. My compliments. Klaudio.

Hello John,
Again, at the end of the que, I join the chorus of awe struck viewers. What a magnificent architectural shot, and display of "two-point perspective." I will do a workshop, not to try to improve on perfection, but to illustrate how two-point perspective appears. One-point perspective was discovered in the Renaissance of 1425. Your photo of the daily bicycle ride over the canal is an example (I critiqued it a few days ago). Two point perspective was understood by Leonardo 50 years later. During the 17th century the great Dutch and Flemish painters used it liberally.
Warm regards, John,
Bulent

Hi John,
The more I browse through your extensive and impressive gallery the more I realise that (a) I have a long way to go master the technical aspects of photography and (b) I am spoiled for choice. I chose this because I love old buildings and this is so well composed with the strip of land running down the left hand side to the ivy clad bridge. The colours are first class, the light is perfect and the reflections are simply stunning. A superb capture my friend, superb!

You European photographers always do such an outstanding job with architectural images. This is a first-class photograph with fabulous composition and perspective. Excellent place for the shot, moreover that it had revealed more information on the "two-point perspective" through the workshop. Amazing colours, and interesting detail is that small boat, docked to the back-door. What a nice way to get in the castle, when and if necessary...
