What a special atmosphere provides by this picture! Well done! This light fog plays a good job.
The green in the field is quite saturated, but it's often the case when we took pictures of wet grass.

Wow, John, what a picture! One of the best I have seen from you recently. As Hans already said, you have captured truly wonderful light here, even if the grass seems slightly blurred. Nice arrangement of sheep on the division line of this realm of green. The title actually reminded me of one of my own pictures, with (almost) the same title:)

Beautiful rural scene, John - in my opinion one of your best photos recently. Lovely green hues in the pasture and in the trees, and a nice quiet mood provided by the flock of sheep peacefully grazing in the middle. Nice light all across the photo, too, well done. This should be beautiful as a large print, frame it and hang it on one of your walls ;)

Very beautiful format, frame and light in this shot. The green tonalities you has reached seem like a canvas, and the central light, so diffused, seems a way opened to the sky we can't see. I like too the white spots of sheeps between the grass. It's an excellent shot. Congratulations, and thanks.

Hey hey hey this framing is quite unusual from you, it strongly reminds me of two photos recently posted by Cessy that had an overall very dark atmosphere also due to the black frame and a subject standing out from this in a really powerful way, your photo has similar qualities, the only difference being your choice of a wide angle framing instead of a closer scene framing as she did. The light falling through the trees on the sheep was there just right for you !

Dag, John. Een formaat dat u tamelijk zeldzaam gebruikt, maar dat hier zeer goed past bij de foto. Ook de zwarte omlijsting vind ik zeer gepast. De mooie groene kleuren doen de schapen zeer goed uitkomen. Diezelfde schapen zijn goed over de foto verspreid, die er echt als een schilderij uitziet. Mooie kleuren en licht.

The sheep counting never worked with me, but I probably never pictured a beautiful scenery as you are showing here.
The title has several layers. One would be the one you mentioned in your note. The other could be the shepperd or the dog counting his sheep or the last possibility would be a wolf counting the sheep before he attcks the herd. However, there are no wolfs in Europe anymore so I stay with the sheperds dog surveilling and counting the sheeps.
The composition, colors and texture gives the idea of a Brothers Grimm fairy tell scenery.

It is easy to recognize an excellent picture when you are confronted with one and it is the case here. More than the sheeps, it is the trees in the background which I find fascinating, especially the lighted part in the center. There is some magic in these trees, like being at the border of some enchanted forest, Broceliande or Fangorn...

Hi John, a very lovely shot with excellent shades of green! Good shot with the lighted part in the middle. The borders on top and bottom remind me of watching LOTR with breathtaking scenes.

I may be a bit late to come and say all the positive things I have to say about this picture, but I will : thats a luminous scenery (pastoral scenery) and the colors and mood are great, these sheeps are just like those I count before sleeping, a bit dreamy, sympathiques, and coloured.

Hello John,

I very happily join the huge chorus of admirers of this work of art. There is something quite sublime and ethereal in the panoramic view and composition, in the colors and exposure. The greens are variegated, with the illuminated part masterfully placed at the center. This belongs in the Dutch Golden Age.
