Photographer's Note
A playful tiger cub (amongst several others) we saw at the Rhino and Lion Reserve near Johannesburg.
I am not sure what the tiger cubs were doing there or where they were imported from (because, as you all should know, tigers are NOT found in Africa in the first place).
There were 6 or 7 of them, and we could go into their cage and play with them (for a fee, of course). It was an amazing experience!
They were very lively, and we were reminded of just how fierce they can become when one of them playfully bit a friend of mine in the arm (luckily not to deep, but she still had to go for an antibiotic injection afterwards). It took her quite a while to explain at the hospital later that evening that she was in fact bitten by a tiger, and that she realized that this was Africa... :-)

wow, it is a nice one, i ejnoy a lot of your "animal" pictures, they are really good. i really like DOF here - only the face of the tiger is in focus. i like the compo also with all those stripes around the tiger, nice one

Great Henry.. What a great catch.. Love it. A favorite. You really make me want to go to South Africa.. As Luko makes me want to go to Indonesia.. A few trips in perspective.
A very cute image...

Very interesting subject and excellent framing. I like how the head is very sharp, upside down and how it´s surrounded by orange, black and white stripes. Great work, henry.

Great shot, Henry. The colours, patterns and textures are all excellent. For a cub, he certainly has big teeth! Well framed.

Henry you did it again. What a good capture of this beautiful animal. It looks like a 'house' cat. Great! There is a lot of cat expression. Good colors and sharpness. Very well done!

A great composition, he looks good surrounded by the others. He seems to be looking straight at you, maybe planning a nice bite. A really great shot Henry.

Adorable !!!! une vraie peluche !
les rayures des 2 autres tigres qui l'entourent créent un très joli graphisme ici.

Great one, Henry. The tiger cub looks deceptively cute, almost makes me want to put my hand inside the screen and pet it (well, on second thought, maybe not). It's technically as impeccable as any of your wildlife shot, but this one has an additional strong graphical quality, with the colorful lines and patterns going all about your frame here. Excellent shot, congratulations.

Very good composition. One of your best shots, I must say. The framing of the cub by the grownup ones is very unique and the upward stare is also a charming angle. Great work. Congratulations.

Man what a great shot Henry. Better than great, I would be tempted to use to word perfect. You know my fascination with cats, so this really appeals to me. I find the angle and the expression of the cub just wonderfull. The colors are so well done here also as the sharpness. Really incredible work.
A favorite of course!

My daughter went wild with this shot, Henry! She loves big cats--especially little baby big cats. The composition is so welcoming and the colors and tones so enaging. I want to reach out and play with it!

Wow! This really is nice. The DOF and composition are spot on, and the colours beautiful. I find myself craning my neck and turning it around to the same angle as the cub. :-)
Very interesting note too. Thanks for sharing this.
Well Done!!

Beautiful shot! The colors are a lot saturated, but it gives a colorbook look to the picture.
The fact that the tiger is shot while on its back helps to create a unique photograph from a typical tiger picture.
Well done

what a little kitten !
It lacks a little sharpness in my opinion. But the composition is good, the tiger has good looking eyes, and colors are right.
Don't forget that Tiger is a specie that is in great danger on our planet. A few ones still live in asia but they are hunted, slaughtered by people for their so called "chemical" properties in China, Japan... The last pyrennean bear has just been killed today in France. There is only one really dangerous kind of animal on Earth, us.

A wonderful picture. Not only technically great - exposure, sharpness, etc., but a great composition. Seeing the cub upside down like this emphasizes the playfulness of the scene.

Hi, i love this picture, its lovely and bright and very happy. When I look at this picture in the corner of my eye I can almost see the tigers belly on the left moving as if the tiger is breathing in the picture, its bizarre. TFS.
* I hope you like my workshop on this image.

Good note, good point about no tigers in Africa. Of coarse, I know that, but still I needed to be reminded until the penny dropped.
