Photographer’s Note
The classic view of Mt. bromo on eastern Java, Indonesia. To reach this viewpoint I got up at around four in the morning and went by jeep for about one hour to this spot where I waited for the sunrise. Normally the place is really crowded, I've heard, but since the tourism in Indonesia has been getting some serious blows lately due to natural disasters and terrorism there weren't to big of a crowd around.
The smoke rising in the back of the photo is coming from the volcano G. Semeru. This mountain was on alert when I visited the area and was thus off limits. This even caused some trouble for me because the road I wanted to travel on to the south was closed.
I've done some basic digital editing but nothing serious.

Indonesia is an amazing place. Well done with this capture Jakob. The light is great, and so the fog dawn the valle.

This is a really stunning shot, and you've timed it well in getting the smoke coming out of both volcanoes. I remember from when I was there that the volcano in the background only produces smoke at regular intervals.
The light is really beautiful, as is the layer of mist filling the valley in the foreground.
