Photographer’s Note

Here's another example of nature's forces .
This sanded up church ( church of Saint Lawrence , the seafarers' guardian ) was built in the second half of the 14.(!) century. The sand drift started in the 16. century and reached the church at the end of the 18. century . The congregation had to dig their way into the church when they wanted to attend the services . The struggle against the sand ended in 1795 , when the church was finally closed and abandoned . To-day only the tower of the church is visible .
