Cathedral (Duomo)
-----------------------------
One of the world’s biggest religious temples. The cathedral’s construction began in the 14th century, when Gian Galeazzo Visconti ruled the city. It is a wonderful Flamighero-Gothic sample.
The Cathedral is located in the Piazza del Duomo, Milan’s neuralgic center. This cathedral shows us the Lombards preference for the profuse decoration. The Duomo has more than 2,000 sculptures and numberless spires and capitals. Something you shouldn’t miss if you ever come to Milan is a visit to the church’s roof, where you’ll be able to admire a wonderful landscape view of the city.
This facade is a not very fortunate mixture of the following styles: Baroque, Neogothic and Neoclassic. The bronze doors are from the 19th century. The best of them is the central gates, designed in 1906 by Lodovico Pogliaghi, in a neoclassic style, with Art Noveau influences. The portico’s five bass-reliefs are 1629 Giambattista Crespi designs. The rest of the facade decoration is from the beginning of the 19th century. The oldest part of the cathedral is the apse, with three wonderful rose windows designed by Filippino de Modena.
The construction of this cathedral lasted several centuries. The central spire was finished in 1769, and the facade was finished following the order of Napoleon himself. The works finished in the 19th century, but after the second world war the temple had to be reconstructed because it suffered some damages.

Hi Burak,
Interesting framing of the tower!
Well composed image, like giving a sneak-peak of the city outside...
Good details, nice colours! I guess you had to climb some stairs to get up there...

Merhaba my friend Burak,
A perfect framing with very nice details to observe. I love the way that statue on the top is held by the detail of the window. A really smart one. Congratulations!

Hi,
very nice shot. I've thought several times to go up the Duomo and take some shots.
Lanscapes are really attractive from there!
I like this image, a kind of vision through a window.
Congratulations from a ... Milan citizen!!

Hi Burak,
You chose a very nice angle, exactly between the ornamental of the church, we can see the statue perfectly, also the sun and shadow parts gives a lovely and attractive feeling.
Very well done!

Hi Burak, An interesting framing to the statue on the top of the roof. I like the way you have the narrow portion of the window curve holding up the body of the statue. Good sharpness and nice depth.

Good idea and good title (as the former one). Good light management too. But I'm not sure the pov is the best to appreciate the vertiginous statue and I wish you have had another zoom (I mean I wish the statue was not right in the window's sculpture).
