Photographer’s Note
During a major tidy-up recently I found a set of negs of Finland and Estonia that I thought I'd lost. There's a lot of shots on TE of the orthodox Cathederal on the hill overlooking Tallinn, so I chose this one which includes a group of local church goers gathering for a chat before going in, on a cold but bright Sunday morning. Their clothing seems to identify both the place and time of year.

Imposing and superb arhitecture of this church. An added advantage is the people on the front of church giving the photo a more lively touch.
Best wishes for 2006
Happy New Year

Hi Richard & Happy 2006!
The cupolas look almost Islamic. Wonderful colour, sharpness, & graphism. I like the tight framing here. The blue sky color, vs the lemon yellow icon is superb. Good work, & don't drink too much champagne!

Its nice whenm you go through old forgotten photos, especially when you turn up little gems like this. Splendid colours and details of the church and I love the people huddled at the bottom of the stair.
Happy New Year, Richard

Hi Richard,
beautiful architecture right? Ofcourse including the people was the right choice. It gives life to the place. Its much better than an empty shell of a building no matter how lovely.
Best wishes for 2006.

Bonjour Richard
You was lucky the day yoou took this shot : nice sunny day and some pelerins going up the stairs. More interesting like, while the place was empty when I came.
Nice colors and sharpeness, but a little tilt (or it is perspective ?)
happy new year

A nice photo of the beautiful church, Richard. The sideward angle of the sun does a nice job of illuminating the splendid decor of the architecture, and the group of people is indeed a good inclusion for the reasons you mentioned. Happy new year.

Well made presentation of this church Richard. The tight cut and compo seems to be the best choice for the very crisp and clear result. Good also to see the inclusion of some visitors there.

Hi Richard, it's always nice to find presumably lost treasures like this. I like the framing from a not obvious angle and the striking well cpatured oriental looking architecture. The people indeed provide vital context.
Happy New Year to you and your family,
Bert

Here is a picture that makes me think that it's high time to organize a trip to the Baltic Countries. I have already been in Lithuania only , but I know that Tallinn is a port which deserves to be visited. The picture is OK with it's feeling of winter - you really feel it whem you look at it - but perhaps it could have been taken from a bit further. You know how
keen I am about avoiding tilted architecture.
Leaving for Bangkok and Angkor tomorrow, I probably won't be around for a while. Keep well Richard.
