Photographer’s Note
On a trip in the Bannergata national reserve, I encountered this fellow. Don't be mislead by the picture but this dude is as large as a small truck and very aggressive (so they told me and I believed them). Anyway; I wisely stayed inside the armored jeep. If I remember well, this is an Indian Bison.

The common name for this big fellow which you've captured so nicely is a Gaur. They are huge and can be dangerous, and must have been something to see this magnificent creature so close!

OH man Hendrik, thats a BEAST! Ive never seen such a huge cow before;) Great exposure and an exciting shot. The Indian Bison has a very different look from the European bisons I have seen. Actually, if you ever go to POland theres a huge Bison reserve which is probably the last place where Bisons live in nature in Europe. Worth seeing my friend.

You did right to stay in the jeep; he looks almost as big as the trees. Well composed with the trees to balance the image.

Good captured. Yah....Its common name in India is GAUR. Huge animals. But I feel you could play with a bit of DOF.

A well composed shot of this bison. He certainy looks muscular. I like the natural colours of predominating hues of brown and green blending so well together. Well framed and cropped for high impact. Well captured at the decisive moment, Hendrik.

Mooi deze vegetatie hier en ik veronderstel dat dit geen klein reservaat is om al deze dieren hier te herbergen zodat je zelfs met een wagen er door heen kunt rijden. De eorme gespierde nandi is wel indrukwekkend en mooi tussen het groen door getrokken. Een stukje typische Indische natuur, mooi om dit ook even te laten zien Hendrik.

Gelukkig mogen deze nog in een park rond wandelen, en zo slecht ziet deze buffel er nu niet uit, mooi scherp neergezet Hendrik, met realitische kleuren, het moet moeilijk zijn met het sterk zonlicht om dergelijke foto's te nemen.

You have caught the subject very well here. I didn't get the chance to see Indian Bison when I was in India but you have given a good composition showing its strength very well. The sharpness is also well conveyed in the shot.
