Photographer’s Note
Inside the Reed Flute Cave in Guilin. Like every attraction in China, this one has been 'developed' with lots of neon colored lights. Made for some nice shots, even though the natural beauty of the caves was hard to see.
The cave was full of signs explaining the rock formations, with inscriptions like 'A centipede and a magic mirror'. Pretty amusing!
No tripod, so I balanced on a rock. Sharpened and cropped.

Surreal image, comes directly out of a science fiction movie. The picture is great but I dislike the "development" of the cave. Warm lighting gives much better, more natural cave pictures.

This is a beautiful shot Ian, making the best out of the neon colours on the cave. I especially like the exposure of the stalactites hanging from the ceiling on the left. Perhaps you can use a tighter crop, as the ceiling on the right seems to be a bit overexposed and is less interesting than the left part.
Indeed, you can argue about natural appearance of the cave when lit by coloured lamps. But personally I think it is okay as the light adds to the fairytale-atmosphere and the 'adventure' is lost anyway as soon as you get into these caves with loads of other people.

Splendid photograph of cave, the lights and the reflections are really impressive.
Nevertheless, I find this shot slightly leaning and that obstructs me a little.
Magnifique photo de grotte, les lumières et les réflections sont vraiment impressionnantes. Néanmoins, je trouve cette photo légèrement penchée et cela me gêne un peu.

Hi Ian,
Those blue colors are stunning, of course not at all what we would expect from such a place but providing a very effective view. Reflections are fine too as is the contrast of the warm rocks with the cold blues. Roly found the words, a view out of a sci-fi movie !

Photo magique par les couleurs et les lumières, cristalline, les néons ont été disposés avec beaucoup de feeling car l'ensemble est vraiment harmonieux.
Astucieux d'avoir utilisé un roc comme appui pour l'appareil.
