Photographer’s Note
This a close view on marche Bonsecours in the Old Port, you can see a beautiful day picture at this link by Ghislain with the story of the place.
About the photo: Since the sky was pretty dark I added light in it so we could see the clouds creating a different mood. This added noise to the sky wich was not apparent on the original, I have then removed some of it before applying unsharp mask on the building it self, saved without cropping.
The patches on the roof are natural, amplified by the light around, as you can see on the other photo.

Hi Pierre. A nice shot with great colors, especially for night. But I would change two things. First I'd get rid of the noise from the sky. Secondly I would crop the top of the shot off since it's not adding much to the composition. I like the shot; it just needs a minor tweak or two. Nice one Pierre.

Excellent lighting, Pierre. You captured it very well. The blue of the dome's windows is very beautiful. I also like the arrangement of leaves down the right side and I think it would also have worked if you had cropped the photo just above them - as Stephen has mentioned. Well seen.

Great exposure Pierre - the light is very nice, and I love the colours. The blue in the windows is lovely and the angle is interesting. I wouldn't take too much off the top, just a fraction.

Hi Pierre, I like the composition with the trees framing the photo. It is rare to be able to get so many layers of contrast in a night shot. You have done an excellent job here. The combinations of the color contrast made this picture outstanding.

A beautiful night shot, Pierre, with a good inclusion of the tree elements to frame this detail of the marche building. Nice light ambience, and on my CRT monitor I can barely notice the presence of noise. But how about rotating it a bit to the left to straighten the verticals some? In any case, a moody capture you managed here.

Bonjour Pierre,

This is much better, Pierre. The building and especially the dome are excellently exposed, and so much sharper than in your previous upload. Also the tree comes out nicely and completes the composition well. Even the tree as a silhouette - in the lower left corner - helps the composition. The sky looks nice too, although I think a minor crop (about 1/6 off the top) wouldn't diminish the impact. I'm most impressed by the rendering of the light on the dome - it's so white (I tend to get a strong yellow color cast) - which might be due to the small aperture or the short exposure time. Very well done!

very nice shot, I like the way yo took this, the building is very clear, however the sky has some noise, but doesnt effect the lovely shot, well done

An interesting look at this building. I like the leaves on the right side. I agree about cropping a bit off the top.

Nice shot here. I think however I would have taken it horizontal to capture more of the building. You have lots of sxtra room on top of this scene.

Vraiment très bien fait, cette prise de nuit. Très claire, très nette, beaux couleurs et bien composé. Pas évident mais tu maîtrises apparemment très bien. Bien fait! A+

Bonsoir from the West Coast, Pierre! This is a powerful and dynamic night shot of this beautiful building. The sky is absolutely outstanding, as are the lighting effects. The colours are amazingly rich for a night scene. I usually agree with Stephen (Sinquanti) on his criticisms, but in this case I find that the sky adds perspective and rich texture to the scene, though perhaps a minor crop would be warranted. As for the noise, yes, it would be nice to try Neat Shop etc., but not at the expense of the texture. Perhaps a workshop would determined the matter. In any event, this is a powerful and pleasing shot.

Awell captured night scene. Colours and lighting good - exposure is perfect. Good composition with the tree to the right naturally filling the space and the branch creating a line towards the dome.

Il faut respecter la règle des tiers.
Le sujet est trop bas et le dôme trop au centre. Il aurait fallu laisser moins de ciel et pencher un peu plus vers la gauche. On a l'impression que le bâtiment va tomber.
