Photographer’s Note
This is one of the most well known farms of Damme: The "Stamperhoeve". I don't know from when this farm dates, but the barn is dated 1759. Both the barn and the house have a mansardroof, which is very rare in our region. Only the very rich could afford this kind of roof; this farm belonged a time to the canon Vanderstricht. One knows that the church had money in that time... The site where this farm is located is however much much older; some old walls have been found in the ground.
Nowadays this farm has been partially transformed into a restaurant/hotel, but the owner is next to that still farming. The building has been kept/restored in it's original state and that gives a very special feeling. By the way: it is very good to eat.

Oud is goud zeg ik steeds en je bewijst het met dit strak kader rond deze hoeve met een mooi perspectief convergerend naar beneden, alles haarscherp tegen een prachtige staalblauwe hemel. Mooi om zo'n typisch hoevetje stevig in het vizier te nemen.

Heel mooi Hendrik,
het lijnenspel de lichtval, de eenvoud, mooi en toch het schilders eigenschap in de fotograaf terug vinden op de foto. Moeilijke zin trouwens. Ik weet niet of dit goed Nederlands was, Ik vind hem mooi,

Dag Hendrik, hopelijk al een stuk beter.
Geloof mij of niet maar ik ben nog noot in "De Stamper" geweest, bij de eerste gelegenheid zal ik daar eens mij oog te loeren leggen. Uw foto geeft mij wel vertrouwen door de rust dat hij uitstraald, de fiets zal niet onmiddellijk gestolen worden volgens ik hem bekijk.

La dernière fois que je suis allé au restaurant avec ma grand-mère (il y a quelques années vu qu'elle est décédée depuis 2002), c'était dans un restaurant à Damme. En regardant sur le site, je pense que c'était le Lammegoedzak.
En tout cas, celui-là, on ne vois pas de prime abord qu'il s'agit d'un restaurant mais je ne doute pas qu'on y mange très bien. La composition depuis cet angle est très bien faite. Bravo!

A nice look at this old house, Hendrik - all the essential details have been fit into the single frame here thanks to the vertical format. The bike leaning against the wall (and its shadow) is a good detail, and the textures are rendered in good detail despite the slightly difficult light. Well done.

Bonjour Hendrik,
Bonne presentation de ce batiment historique, sous un angle qui le presente bien et permet d'en apprecier la structure mais qui ne montre pas les hordes de touristes affames se precipitant dans le restaurant ;-))
L'exposition est aussi tres bien maitrisee, pourtant ca ne devait pas etre tres facile avec ces murs blancs !
