Photographer's Note

Like a designer's tablet laid aside, this weather-worn sandstone sits high above the Colorado River at Horseshoe Bend.

I suspect most visitors to the site (and sight) ooh and ahh at the way the river turns back on itself, take their iconic photo from the overlook and leave without ever looking at the landscape around them. The entire area is a wonder of folded rock etched by time, wind, and water to reveal layers upon layers of conflicting patterns.

ISO 800, 1/160 second at f/6.3, 24mm focal length
