Photographer's Note

The Veerabhadra temple is in Lepakshi in the Anantapur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Built in the 16th century, the architectural features of the temple are in the Vijayanagara style with profusion of carvings and paintings at almost every exposed surface of the temple.

The picture is of large granite Nandi (bull), mount of Shiva, which is about 200 metres (660 ft) away from the temple. It is carved from a single block of stone. It is 20 feet (6.1 m) in height and 30 feet (9.1 m) in length, bedecked with garlands and bells. It is said to be one of the largest of its type in the world.

Note: Lepakshi is very near to India's silicon City Bangalore and famous among IT people for one day excursion.
