Photographer’s Note
Today's photo gives you an idea of what my main activity will be next week ;))
This type of lift used to go up again before descending yet another slope is slightly becoming a historical device as more and more ski resorts upgrade their lifts to top modern installations in order to transport more skiers. Chairlifts are getting bigger (I think the maximum is now around 10 in a row of chairs !) as do gondolas and cable cars. The last giant cable car has been inaugurated some months ago to link the already huge resorts "Les Arcs" and "La Plagne". Logical Result of these spendings is that prices go up dramatically and lead people like me to prefer smaller resorts. I do not need 600 kms of slopes when I ski for one day, here for example I was on the skilift in "Les Houches", the resort just below the Mont Blanc. The cut mountain to the left of the photo should actually be the "Mont Blanc".
Have a nice time, see you later !

Hi Jean-Yves,
An unusual shot! Great sharpness and colour throughout. I love the point of view. Was it difficult to hang on to the lift and other gear while taking the shot with the camera?

bpnjour jean yves,
indeed this is a toutch of history nowadays but still when "vagabounding" through more advanced (technically) lifts you may find a nice pearl - those old-fashioned are usually not crowded and accompanied by nice skiruns, empty, not too easy, neither too demanding; i often use them 3,4 times before moving forward;
nice one, this pic, great colours and saturation.
gave me an idea for a posting for tomorrow; i'll dedicate my tomorrow's insert to you

Bonnes vacances !

Bouh, on s'y croirait !

A nice crisp scene from the lift, Jean-Yves - great point of view that makes me feel I had the skis attached to my feet right now. Very nice exposure in this beautiful scene from the skiing slopes, and great blue hues in the sky. Well done. Enjoy your skiing vacation.

Bonnes vacances!

When I look at this shot I feel like I'm going straight up to the top of the world! Good choice in the 1/1000 exposure as it is nice and Sharpe even though you're moving. I like the inclusion of the skiers coming down the mountain. Informative note too.

Comfortable blue sky and bright snow!
This scene brings me back my old times.
The way of this J-bar lift to get on was a little difficult for the beginner.

Salut Jean Yves
Good sharpness & texture in the snow. The ski lift & ski tracks add some superb linear perspective. The sidelighting is very attractive. Have a great weekend !

Hi Jean! I envy your adventures! But then, I don't think I can handle the very cold weather :)
Very crisp and colorful shot! The white snow and blue sky are really wonderful to look at! The viewers also can relate better since you took this shot while going up, it's like we're there experiencing it ourselves. rgds.

Good details of the snow Jean, and a nice perspective. My guess a one hand shot if you are in the lift shooting. Good job then...

Well I see with your camera that it is compact enough to store in your jacket. I really love the snow lines to add pespective. Also shooting at this time of day had really brought alot of color out too.
