Amber Fort, Jaipur
I'm starting to review the images from my trip to Western India to try to portray the majesty of the sensational panoramic views I'd tried to capture in multiple frames, with the intent of stitching them into panoramas like this one. The challenging climb up an eyewateringly daunting sight of uneven, large and sloping steps to the top of the wall surrounding the Amber Fort at Jaipur in was made more difficult by the mid-afternoon heat ... but was still one of my favourite places. Securely connecting with the fort's massive ramparts and much grander than anything I expected to find in India, the wall stretches to the horizon across steep, rocky ridges to create what must have been an impenetrable barrier to attackers.
Shot on a Nikon D700 with Nikon 80-20mm SWM f2.8 lens on a monopod, stitched together from three frames.
