Photographer's Note
I have mentioned before that North East England is a great place for people who like photographing bridges. There are already two photos of bridges from this area in my TE gallery. This is the third one. You can see here the Tees Newport Bridge.
I had a problem selecting the location here. While taking this photo I was in County Durham but across the River Tees there is already County North Yorkshire. Region I live in, called Teesside, is rarely marked in guidebooks so it is a real challenge to travel locally here as the charming places like this are hard to find. Quite often I have to rely on the word of mouth or have my eyes wide open.
Opened to traffic on 1934, Tees Newport Bridge, spans the River Tees a short distance upriver from Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge, linking Middlesbrough with the borough of Stockton-on-Tees. Designed by Mott, Hay and Anderson and built by local company Dorman Long, who have also been responsible for such structures as the Tyne Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridge, it was the first large vertical lift bridge in Britain. The bridge was opened by the Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI). Constructed around twin 55m lifting towers, the 82m bridge span, weighing 2,700 tonnes, could be lifted by the use of two electric motors to a maximum height of 37m.

Hello Mariusz,
This is an interesting and original bridge, not much like any I have ever seen. You found a good place for the picture, combining two diagonals and giving a heavy prominence to the two dominating colours, brown and green. Actually now i see there are at least three diagonals, including the shadow across the river.
Kind regards,
Gert

hello mariusz,
A peculiar bridge captured very well in vertical form. I like the shadow cast by the bridge on the muddy water. The color contrast is very good. Well composed with sharpness, colors and depth.

Witaj Mariusz,
jak zawsze napewno znajdziesz najwspanialszy punkt widzenia, z ktorego zrobisz wspaniale zdjecie. I oto jest, pieknie uchwycony potezny, masywny most z niesamowitej konstrukcji, robi niesamowite wrazenie. Znalazles ten punkt wspaniale bo ten most jest rewelacyjny. Bardzo ladnie jak zwykle wspaniale wykonane, super naturalna kolorystyka, doskonala ostrosc. Ciekawe odbicie w wodzie jakies innej konstrucji. Podoba mi sie takze to niebo troche zachmurzone, ktore dodaje uroku tej fotografii. Super praca. Gratulacje.
Serdecznie pozdrawiam i zycze milej niedzieli,

Hello Mariusz,
A fine photograph which captures all the flavour of the industrial age of Teeside, of the days when coal, iron and steel fuelled Britain's economy. Perhaps not exactly a thing of beauty, this bridge is, however, attractive in its own way and your photograph is excellent as is your interesting and informative note. I appreciate your inclusion of a map which kindly allowed me to have a "virtual drive" across the bridge!
Excellent composition, lovely colours, perfect exposure and exquisite detail and sharpness.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

witaj mariusz, jednak udaje Ci sie ro buiz małe wycieczki :).
Pozdrawiam

Hi Mariusz,
It is a spectacular bridge, indeed, that you have caught in an effective visual angle, with a nice diagonal and an elegant perspective.
I like the light and the quality of the colors, in this image with a great sharpness and with a good technical execution.
The brown color of the river is amazing.
A beautiful work, my friend.

Hello Mariusz.
That has made great composition with this strange and different bridge, at least the ones I've seen. Nice the projection of shadows which gives one of the pillars of the bridge.
The sky is perfect and adds its charm to your good work. I like a lot, this charming place.
Have a nice day.
Best regards.
Luis.

Hi Mariusz
its always a pleasure to see a new photo from you, not just to see the photo, but it also means that you have time away from work - for play!
looking at this bridge, i can't decide if its ugly or beautiful...perhaps a little bit of both! :)
mmmm...whats that shadow in the water? is there another crane behind you?
Its good to see some historic culture of architecture from this area. very well photographed as always, i think its impossible for you to take a bad photo!
enjoy your day

Hello Mariusz,
Never saw such an impressive bridge. Notable brown soil erossion on river's water, mingle with the green veg. on banks and light-green structure's tone.
Fine taken,

Ciao Mariusz,
Complimenti.
Un caro abbraccio

Mariusz
So you've done it ! But not in the blue hour ! I have not been down to this bank, there is a car park just up above I recall, but you have found a good spot, for all your concerns. This angle shows it off just so, and uses the light to good advantage.
My as yet unpublished efforts show it through the trees exactly 180 degrees from here, and depending on taste, the light has wrecked the shot, or made it. Its all perception ! I also have an ( also unposted ) view of it as a back drop to the Sir Nigel Gresley, as pictured here on the same day, from across the river, 90 degrees from your POV.
It is a shame thst this bridge is permanently locked down now, it would have been a sight indeed in operation.
Top marks from me - all two of them ! We will be over in the fullness of time, but not for a couple of months, I don't suppose..
Regards
Martin

Hi Mariusz
Oh yes I see what you mean: it's a bridge-lover's haven. This photo is a little reminiscent of some of Martin (MJR's) Gallery. Love the colours, the geometry and the definition. The vertical frame and the shadow in the FG are nice touches. Thanks for sharing.
have a great day

wspaniały podnoszony most i przykład na to ,że i inżynierowie - architekci mają poczucie piękna. Świetnie on wyglada na burymi wodami rzeki i na tle przepięknego nieba. Super kolorystyka i wspaniała ostrość.

Hi M,
Excellent shot, I like the vertical composition, from this POV and angle, the bridge looks much more impressive, it really accentuate the height of it, and I like the inclusion of some natural foreground of vegetation. The sky with large puffy clouds adds to the dramma and enhances the composition.
Excellent quality as always. I see you're not very active here.

Hello Mariusz
A very interesting structure & quite an engineering feat! The robustness of the structure seems to exude from this picture. The diagonals looks good, of the bank, the bridge & also of the shadow of the long pylon like structure falling across the water. This fine picture is a good addition to TE

Hello Mariusz,
Excellent point of view and composition: the
z-form creates a very nice depth, even the
diagonal lines of the shadow of the bridge.
The vertical position emphasize the depth.
Light management is also excellent. And it
is a picture with a nice "game" between
green (gras and bridge) with brown (stones
and water) with the blue (the sky) as break.
Friendly regards,
Robert
