Photographer's Note

The Spanish word for pomegranate is granada. In the botanical gardens of Rodalquilar there are different varieties of pomegranate, fig and olive trees all symbolic of Andalucia. There is even a wild olive. The cultivated olive was developed from this tree in ancient times. The fruit of the wild olive is tiny and would not yield much oil. The different varieties of pomegranate trees bear fruit of different size and colour from pale rust to deep red. This particiular tree caught my eye because of the brilliant colour of its fruit.
