Photographer’s Note
Picture taken last week at 2000' on the South West side of Downtown Montreal, on a mostly cloudy day, the visibility was not ideal but the sun was trying hard to find a hole.
This is the opposite way from my previous picture from the mast of the olympic stadium that we can also see in the back.
I've also joined a close up view of Downdown in the workshop as a complementary. A few weeks from winter now, the temperature was between 0 and 5° celcius (41° F), still no snow at the time, but we received our first flake and accumulation this week.

Excellent overview of Montreal from your high vantage point. Superb sharpness, considering that this was probably taken through a glass window?

Always impressive to see this kind of aerial views - usually the first thing I do when arriving in a big city is trying to find an observation platform to get a first understanding of the place. The photo you made here is very sharp and crisply detailed, and also the river crossing through the upper right area is a nice element of the framing. One idea for such photos is always a cropping without sky at all, suggesting an infinite range of the cityscape, but the way you present it here is just fine as well. Good shot, Pierre.

Pierre, if there is anything better than GPS, its an aerial view. An aerial like this give a good bearing or "directional awareness", something which the mind/brain could see and comprehend better, especially if there is a landmark or two to set our "awareness" at. Someday, maps will be something like this, instead of lines, boxes, circles with icons and texts.

Cher Pierre,

Very colourful and detailed view of downtown Montreal - normally I found airshots some kind af grey - but I think 2000 feets a good height to get colours as well - thanks Pierre for this and the fine workshop photos as well.

Impressive shot over downtown Montreal, Pierre. And I like the close up posted as WS too, as I'm very fond of the 'straight down' view. 2000 ft seem to be an ideal altitude for these shots. The original shows the scattered vastness of a great city and I like that you've included the Olympic Stadium, placing it in its surrounding. Well done!

Nice shot of Montreal. Good view of the city that emphasizes just how big it is. Also good view of the river. I have seen some nice night shots of Montreal high buildings. It would interesting to see a shot from the location you were shooting, with the timing of early evening, Not dark yet but lights are already seen.

Despite it not being a clear day the weather actually worked out. The way the ground fades into the haze in the distance with the curvature of the earth is impressive. Even more so is how it appears like the edge of the world. The river seems to suddenly drop off the face of the earth out there at the edge. Perhaps it could use a little more contrast to create a greater feel of depth in the foreground. Nicely done. Must be nice to take a trip like this over the city.

Bonjour Pierre, I love this one, I like pictures taken from above, very much. It's colourful with nice ligth on it, and I like to think that somewhere over there, my oldest nephew and hsi girlfriend live there. They moved to Canada in 2003.
Next Christmas I might pay them a visit.

Hi Pierre - despite the cloudy sky, there is a great amount of detail and lively colours, and the view from downtown to the Olymic tower is breathtaking.
