Talampaya National Park is one of the 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Argentina - the others being Peninsula Valdez, Los Glaciares National Park, Quebrada de Humahuaca, the Jesuit Block, Iguazú National Park and Cueva de las Manos.

Talampaya is located in the northwest of Argentina in La Rioja province. It covers in total 215.000 ha. of unique geological and archeological landscape of extraordinary beauty and intense red colors.

It was created by the movement of the tectonic plates and the wind, erotion caused by water and extreme desert temperature has been shaping this peculiar looking canyon in the desert. for milleniums.

The area has evidence of civilization between the years of 120 and 1180 AD, but in Talampaya you can see rock carvings and holes in the rock which used to be used to mash herbs.
