Photographer’s Note

Lake Misurina, situated at an altitude of 1,745 m within a superb alpine landscape, dominated by the Tre Cime of Lavaredo, lies in a beautiful embrace of surrounding mountains of Sesto/Sextener Dolomiti group. All I can say is sleep there and wake up in the morning with the sun rising and illuminating mountains around you...

Lake Misurina is not very large (the perimeter is 2.6 km long, while the depth is 5 m.), but it is its beauty that made it one of the most famous Dolomiti lakes. There are about ten hotels around the lake plus a camping just behind a small forested hill (5-minute walk from the lake) – this camp (Alta Baita I think it was) is a popular starting point for climbers, trekkers, or simply nature-lovers of all kinds for tours up to the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo and surroundings.

Lake Misurina is where the speed skating events were held during the 1956 Winter Olympics of Cortina d'Ampezzo – the last time Olympic speed skating events were held on natural ice.

***Both previous and this photo were taken on the same evening, and as Phillipe correctly commented, they would benefit from gray ND filter (I didn´t have one) and as Hyasar correctly mentioned, longer exposure would enhance it (I didn´t have tripod) - both taken into account, thanks guys***
