Photographer’s Note
The view is of the Courtney River. Courteny is a charming town about 2/3 of the way to the end of the Island when travelling north from Victoria. From Courtney there is a ferry to the Sunshine Coast on the mainland.
In August, we visited Larry's second cousin on Vancouver Island. The cousin is living in senior housing with a great view, see WS. Her mother is happily ensconced in a skilled nursing facility. The staff are warm and friendly, there is no scent of urine, no sound of a person crying for attention.
Note revised to maintain consistency with my stated policy of focusing on health, love & joy.

Hello Pat,
A lovely little river in rural surroundings, an inviting and peaceful place!
Fine late summer atmosphere, still early for any sign of autumn of course...
The river flows nicely through the frame and takes my eyes to the bridge in the background!
Greetings,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change only by the willing of one man alone. The problem (s) with the US is too deep and will take long years to solve it, if it will happen.
Any way, here the politics is about the very nice shot you a presenting today. The vertical format is excellent and the colours are beautiful.

Hallo Pat!
A simple but beautiful photo with a skillful composition. Nothing spectacular, nothing especially interesting, nothing screaming - "only" a rural and calm scenery - with a wonderful depth. What I also like is your title! ;-) It's really a most important question - also concerning other subject matters...
Greetings from autumnal Germany!

Hi Pat!
Beautiful place here!
And about healt in Canada, mind that also Italy is safe : my father felt three weeks ago, broke a femur,he was operated and he is still in the hosptal, making some exercise walking and they are waiting for a free room in a rehabilitation structure, where he will stay and have training for one month. This is all free. Mind that he is 89 and has a cancer started from prostete gone to the bones.
I hope that Obama will be able to change this matter in your beautiful country.
Ciao dear friend!!

Hi Pat,
good composition and a fine easy going landscape.
For us Europeans it is hard to imagine having no health insurance.

Hi Pat,
Pretty rural river scene. On my visit there I found flatter parts of Vancouver Island look pretty much like Southern Finland.
About the title question: Lobbying of big companies and rich individuals to keep taxes down regardless of decay of public services?

Hi Pat,
It is a place with a nice landscape, and with a few magnificent sights as we can see in the complementary photo of your WS.
The sky and the clouds are very beautiful, I like the way in which they combine with the green vegetation and the perspective that offers us the river.
It is a very elegant and attractive composition.
An interesting note too, I hope that Obama could change and improve the public health system in your country.

Olá Pat,
Very nice view. Perhaps it would improve with more contrast.

Despite the problems of our health care (I mean in Portugal), it's very hard to understand the health care politics in a country such as the USA. Like Dominic wrote, in theory it depends on the people. We can vote for many different options. But, in the USA like in Portugal, most people choose only between two options, which are very similar.
SAA,
Francisco
Edit: My comment was according to your previous note, which changed while I wrote ;-)

Hello Pat
As Gerrit said, a very easy going landscape. I commented on a picture of ChrisJ, where he talked about the cost of an ordinary medicine and why it is important to redefine the health sector in your country. This is a charming view indeed with perspective well created

Oh Boy! It seems your previous note stirred up some people. I wish I saw it before you re-wrote it. John wrote me a while back to see how the Obama/health care situation was running over here.
This is indeed a lovely view as is that of the senior housing. The river emerging from the bottom corner leads us all the way to the bridge.

Hi Pat,
this peaceful and very beautiful image is accompanied by a sad note in which you are mentioning a very sensitive topic: taking care of the old and sick. I believe that this issue will become a main challenge in the future. Therefore I appreciate your contribution very much because we have to start finding acceptable solutions as soon as possible. (Personally I was not able to take care of my mother when she became disabled almost two years ago but luckily we have found an institution only five minutes from our home where she gets all she needs. And I can see her almost every day when I come home from work.)
Thank you for sharing this important and moving note! Hopefully Obama will succeed in establishing the important health insurance for the benefit of the US.
Warm regards
Harriet
PS: I have now noticed that you changed your note, but I had still in mind what I wanted to write while I had a look at the image this morning.

Excellent perspective with the little blue bridge joining the river to the sky in the back. The river is a bit grey, and the sky remains nicely colored despite the clouds.
All the best,

Hi Pat
Its too bad we couldn't get together this summer but we took off for Wyoming,Utah etc about Aug 24. Anyway there is a nice calmness in this shot with the river acting as aleading line to the bridge.

Hello Pat! I wonder what you wrote in the beginning but obviously it had to do with the health insurance issue that especially my husband watches carefully since we have so many friends in the States. We are pretty fortunate over here in Switzerland as everybody has to have a health insurance although the debate begins who gets what, depending on your insurance, if you have private insurance but these things will never change. I know from my friend in Nova Scotia that you also need private coverage to get what you want ... or even need. But this is her opinion so I don't really know but she is a nurse so I guess there is some truth in what she says. Yes this is sad news, I hope there will be a change in the near future but it does not sound like it. Good luck anyway! I personally find it important to share a little politics every once in a while otherwise this kind of website makes no sense for me, but this is my opinion. Have a great day, Barbara.

Hi Pat,
That is a nice river and the green bridge further away is a bonus to the composition. Branches and trees make a beautiful natural framing. The sky is also beautiful. I like the view you chose; it guides my glance to the bridge. Well done!

Hi Pat,
The vertical format allow for a splendid big sky backdrop for this lazy river to stand out against.
Love the nature frame of lush green trees.

Hello Pat,
This shot is composed and realized as a good painting. Very good composition, with the river, bridge, small but colorful house and so high sky clouded nicely. The note, although it seems to be indirectly connected with the picture, is an exemplar of literary language with quite useful and interesting information. Thanks!
Best regards,
Sergiy

Hello Pat -
And image that and all of it is paid for by the government without a "death-panel." Oops, a bit off point! A nice placid scene where one can just sit on the bank and enjoy the weather or maybe watch a raft or canoe float by. Excellent.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Pat.
Nice photo, well composed with good depth and perspective. You have captured a wonderful sky to cap off the scene too. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good Sunday, Paul.
