Photographer’s Note
HMCS Onondaga, the longest serving submarine in the Canadian Navy, now has a new home at the Musee de la Mer de Pointe-au-Pere in Rimouski, Quebec. After narrowly avoiding being sold for scrap, the Onondaga was sold to the museum for $4 Canadian plus tax. The submarine has been restored for a reported $2.6 million, and is now open to the public. The rather distinctive bulge on the bow of the sub is a sonar dome.
The Onondaga was towed from Halifax to Rimouski by way of the Canso Canal in July 2008. The tow was featured in the reality TV show, “Monster Moves.” Here is an excellent YouTube video of the tow.

Without reading the notice it is really an unusual scene. Nice view anyway, with beautiful colored patterns on the rocks.

A surrealistic view, this big grey steel whale on top of the rocks and stones...
Good foreground with fine detail of the rocks sculpted by the sea.

Great shot of this beached sub! The angle of the shot is great giving the scene a sense of depth. The streaks of color on the rocks creates a nice lead in for the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Bonjour Pascal,
je ne comprends pas pourquoi cette photo qui sort vraiment de l'ordinaire, n'a pas recueille davantage de critiques élogieuses. Moi je la trouve parfaite, comme d'ailleurs pas mal de photos de ta galerie.
La recherche d'un PO dynamique et original y est pour beaucoup,mais c'est aussi le soin porté à l'exposition et au post processing, qui donnent du panache à la scène.
Bref, d'inombrables qualités qui mettent en valeur ce sous-marin échoué.

Bonsoir Pascal,
Excellent cadrage. J'aime particulièrement le premier plan des rochers du rivage dont les couleurs semblent former des lignes vers le sous-marin. Bravo.

The converging perspective created by the rocks thanks to your low POV and the wide lens leads our eyes to the submarine. Good texture on the rocks and a fine sky as well for this quite unique picture you shared with us
