Photographer’s Note
Another composition of the Storr in Skye. This dramatic landscape seen today was created by the longest and most spectacular landslip in Britain. The landslip is caused by lava flows from the Paleogene Age, between the age of the dinosaurs and the last Ice Age, falling away from the weaker Jurassic sediments beneath.
The area in front of the cliffs of The Storr is known as The Sanctuary. This has a number of weirdly shaped rock pinnacles, the remains of ancient volcanic plugs. One of the most famous of these is known as The Old Man of Storr.

Hello Stephen,
excellent picture, I like this landscape and I think the B&W option creates a more dramatic image, great sharpness and details, congratulations,

Dear Stephen
Great, your b&w is really great in contrast and boldness! I like it a lot. Also your note is very well written. I love all these details and the sharpness in the foreground vs. the softer details in the background. Very well composed and executed. Well done congrats
best regards

I guess for once CNN has missed the breaking news - on the 40th anniversary of landing on the Moon, Mr Emerson sucessfully tested time machine, which let him travel not only in space, but also in time.
fantastic shot, Stephen, love it from corner to corner. good idea to have it in B&W, I find it nicely focuses attention on the sense of movement withing the shot - the rock formations in the foreground seemingly moving up and to the right, while the bacground flows down and to the left. great work, my compliments.
best,
Kristine

Stephen,
Stunningly different effect you've produced here by moving to black and white - the sea taking on the appearance of a salt desert - it's all starting to look more than a little like the heights of Bolivia! Fascinating, when seen this way.
Cheers

Hi Stephen.
Excellent picture. Great compo and B/W conversion. Looks like Moon or Mars landscape - it only misses some space vehicle ;)

Hi Steve!
Wow, I love this shot! It really looks out of this world. Your pov is well-chosen and I like the effect of the shadows. Your choice of b&w is fantastic - really sets the mood.
Have a great evening!
Linda
P.S. Been really busy since returning from SF, but I saw that you uploaded a number of shots - I'll be by again soon! :-)

Allô Stephen!
Merveilleux paysage qu'on pourrait qualifier de lunaire. L'éclairage est à son meilleur et les tons passent du blanc au noir par toute la gamme de gris. Excellente perspective et beau contraste. J'aime beaucoup.
Félicitations!... et bonne fin de semaine,
Amicalement,
Emilius

Hi Stephen,
I just got back from Scotland and I'm glad I stumbled on your take on The Storr. The atmosphere is completely out-worldly, the strong lighting is amazing and very dramatic. The details in the BG are also so crisp they seem to jump in my face. B&W and square format are great too. Well, in a nutshell, straight to my favs!
Best,
Philippe
