Photographer’s Note
There's much life amongst the rocks and canyons at Petra, Jordan. Carriages pulled by donkeys, and people admiring the rock formations are a common sight. It's a geologists dream location!
Some selective light work here has been used to bring out the 2 subjects and bring down the surrounding rocks. Darkening them helps bring focus to the three main elements in this photo (the 3rd being the large rock and tree in the centre).

Hello David,
The entire image is evocative of a stage set, with vertical walls and flat wall — actually reminiscent of a scene in the 'Lion King.' The composition, colors and resolution are all very good. Your post processing is effective with the central theme highlighted amidst the darkened walls.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Dave,
I agree with Bulent, this looks like a film set. The way you have lit the image in post seems to give it an artificial look, not that I think that's a problem, in fact I quite like it.
My son is going to Egypt in October for his honey moon, I've been showing him your images just to get him excited.
Nice work,
Cheers

Hello David
You have created a magical scene here. Thanks for briefly explaining your methods. The composition seems quite unusual but you say such scenes are common place - guess I will just have to make a visit to Petra. Tfs, Marlene

Hi David, you sure manage to generate some interesting effects in your pp. A very otherworldy kind of feel in this one. Not sure that the PP is to my taste (but that probably won't surprise you) but it is certainly an interesting image you've created. Cheers, Steve

David,
I like this. Perhaps, in the strictest sense, your PP work has somewhat dismantled the naturalness of the scene - but - what you've ended up with looks like some sort of surrealist film set - an intriguing stage for unlikely mysteries!
