Photographer's Note
The next in my turbans of Rajasthan series.
The turbans of Rajasthan are very colourful and impressive. The Hindi pronuncation of turban is Paag, Safa or Pagri.
Each colour has its own importance and significance like Ochre is the colour of the mendicant, while the saffron is commonly worn at the time of weddings. In the medieval past, the colour saffron also denoted valour and chivalry. Turbans of specified colours are worn to mark periods of mourning. A white turban is worn for funeral processions by immediate family members. Whereas the khaki, blue and dark maroon are reserved for the solemnity of a condolence visit. Whereas in Rajasthan each caste have their own distinguishing colours, by which they are recognised, like shepherds wear red turbans, Bishnois, who are known as the most nomadic shepherd tribes and environmental conservationists, always wear white turbans and the other tribal communities wear printed turbans.

Hi, Wanda -
Either this guy or his cousin did the exact same pose for me at the Jaipur palace! Did he also want money?
Good composition, well lit, with the right amount of background, and the colors are strong. I wish the turban had a little more space from the edge, though.
Regards,
Dan

Hoi Wanda,
Groetjes,
Henk

Heu Wanda,
I am a great fan of your photos specially from India, in fcat I find your photos better than many of Indian photographers. I like this phot as well just wondering while composition such shot should we place the person in center so the nse behaves likes an axis or should we take liberty and allow the big bright red turban to take the center.

Hi Wanda,
I can't but nearly cross my eyes when looking at his eyes. He got a very intense stare that is rather engaging. Beautiful portrait and yes the turban really grab one's attention. and the mustach, oh so triggling me. He looks like he is about to busted out laughing. I enjoyed it. Thanks.

Hi Wanda,
a superb portrait and a great series...here everything fits together, the background patterns, the red of the turban, the glance in his eyes. Technically without flaws, either.
Cheers Chris

Olá Wanda, wonderful series of turbans. Love the expression of this one. I can see that he's smiling, but it's not so evident because he's a guard and has to keep a tight formal presence. Nice shinning red and good detail of the unique button seen here.

A fine portrait Wanda with good focus on those penetrating eyes. I am not sure if you should have goen for a more shallow DOF but it doesnt matter as the red in the background compliments the turban.
