Photographer's Note

The Uros floating islands on Lake Titicaca, are built from the totora reeds that grow in the lake. They also construct their houses and boats from these reeds aswell as somtimes eating them as a sweet. The islands are constructed from many layers of the reeds which rot from the bottom and are continually replaced with more layers on the top, making the islands soft and springy. You can reach these islands by boat from the town of Puno.
