Photographer's Note

I took this one while walking in a street market in Olinda (you can see more information on that city in previous notes here and here).

It was a very hot Sunday noon and a lot of people was coming out of the church, some of them, like this lady, to sit for a while in the shadow and catch their breath (some of the streets, particularly where I took the photo, are very steep).

I liked very much the way in which she had done her hair using flowers… and how she was absent to the crowd passing by, just looking at the horizon.

I had the possibility of taking some three or four photos, but this is my favorite because of the way her profile outlines against the lighter background.

Raw Capture at ISO 100 – f3.5 – 1/1000s @ 200 mm + 1.4 multiplier.
Post processing: EV compensation in raw file, then conversion (ACR) to TIF, and finally contrast (curves), USM and save for the web.
