Photographer's Note

This is on the streets of Olinda (you can find additional information in my previous note here.

Olinda is considered a city of artists and artisans; you will find lots of galleries, shops and street stands on the top of the hill where the town was founded, there also are some streets musicians with guitars that will try to get clients with music and lyrics improvised on the moment, based on the appearance of the person they are singing to.

It is some kind of musical caricature, but always very proper and with humor.

While walking on a very hot early afternoon I got a glimpse of that man taking a rest, maybe trying to take the temperature the best possible way… or trying to create some lyric to tell the story of people passing by.

I had a brief eye contact with him, looked at my camera and he nodded back… then I took the photo, without him changing his position and tranquil attitude.

Later on I crossed with him again… and well, he sang to me his own improvised impression on myself… which still makes me laugh when I remember it.

I would have liked to have a faster lens on the camera to isolate better the subject and blur the background, but well… this was really a snap shot.
