| This picture is taken in Fortaleza on a night-marked... These dancers was standing in a cirkle showing campoira on the hard ground... It was very impressing to look at and the music they played was also very catching... I found it very hard to go on but after some time I had to because of my kids who was very sleepy... i was lucky... The next day they where there again and my kids wasn't to tierd... |

So nice to see Ina - everyone havng fun in this group - I did a few training sessions with a couple of Brazillian masters (quite) a few years ago and took part in a show in Leicester with the London School of Capoiera a few (less) years ago but never took it up to train on a regular basis because of an illness and because I was following another (Indo-Tibetan) martial arts path but I just so love the music, spirit, movement and 'community' of the rondo - your picture excites these feelings! I would love to see it in an informal way in Brazil - much rarer to bump into capoiera by accident here but I have done! Fantastic moments - I have such respect for these artists!
This is very interesting. I learned recently that it developed as a fight among slaves first then became a dance style. Nice moment.
I’ve also seen a some Capoeira groups in Portugal and it’s very nice. I was used to see it in TV sometimes, but live it has a lot of energy. In fact, despite nowadays this is looked as a dance form, it is in fact a martial-art practiced by the African slaves in Brazil. Originally they would fight with knifes in the hands and others tied to the feet…
This is a good capture of the moment because of her body position which gives dynamic to the photo. Still, the square format contradicts this dynamic a little. The flash is well controlled and with some PP you could get a more balanced exposure between the highlights and shadows enhancing the photo.
Good one, Ina !
You've caught a goog pic of a movement in capoeira. Indeed the sound of the "berimbau" is contagious and has a good rithym.
The only remark is that the name is CAPOEIRA.
Rgds,
