This is Lake Mungo in outback New South Wales. And not a drop of water to see. These formations are part of the Great Walls of China, a lunette dominating the dry bed of the ancient lake. You may only walk here with an elder from the tribe and I was fortunate enough to be accompanied by Graham, a Paakantji man and one of the traditional owners of this magnificent and unique land.
Mungo is about ten hours drive south-west of Sydney.

What an amazing and puzzling part of nature. It's certainly hard to imagine that eons ago this was the bottom of a lake. Australia certainly seems to have a lot to offer for those interested in unusual natural phenomena.

Interesting natural shapes taken in perfect contrasts. This place looks anything but like Earth that we know. Good shot.

Quelles formes étranges. On dirait une ancienne mer qui serait séchée.J'aime le jeu des ombres et de la lumière. C'est comme si le sable s'était peigné.

You made the wasteland look beautiful. Great work.
Constrast of the land and the shadows is good.

Hello Lisa, an amazing landscape especially when accompanied by your notes.
I notice that there are plants on the horizon,so there must be some rainfall?
The sunlight shows the features very effectively.

Ciao cara Lisa, fantastico questo posto, qui ci hanno trovato i resti di uno dei più antichi australiani, foto digran classe con magnifici colori e gran gestione di una luce non facile, bravissima come al solito, un abbraccio Silvio

All those eroded patterns are just wonderful. And sidelight of low angle sunlight brings theme well visible. Quite impressive, although not as strikingly beautiful as your previous upload from this place.

Hello dear Lisa,
this is a stunning landscape, so unique and mysterious, totally captivating. The clarity you achieved is amazing and essential for the viewer to explore and comprehend the formations and the mesmerizing interaction of light and shadow. I guess the elders have names and songs for all the details we are looking at. The intensity of the dominant colour is superb. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Buona giornata e complimenti,Luciano

An astonishing landscape. It looks like a series of termite mounds.
I guess this must be a place where fossils can be found.
Beautiful effect of the shadows on the slopes!
Best regards, Paul

Ciao cara Lisa,
Ten hours drive ... that would take me into France!!!
What an amazing landscape!
It's difficult to get a good sense of scale apart from the hint of trees in the distance but it creates a deep intake of breath to look at this and imagine it on the ocean's floor!
The sunlight is perfect, giving strong contrasts of light and shadows to reveal peaks and troughs.
Have a lovely day,

The golden sunlight on this unique landscape is beautiful. I wonder how large people actually are in relation to these formations. It seems like a very mystical place.
kasianowak (10461) 2017-02-01 13:12
It looks like a frozen see or an usual sculpture. The colours are marvellous and the light and shadows emphasize the textures and shapes.
Makes me wish I could spend more time in your beautiful country.

Fascinating geological structure of this mountain landscape or is this how Australia looks like after the phone-call of the Australian prime minister Turnbull with Trump?
Excellent high quality presentation
Have a nice day

Hello Lisa, What an incredible landscape. We have no indication of the scale, so we can imagine these are mountains seen from below, or just small sandy wrinkles. Ten hours drive from Sydney - so the place middle of nowhere. And it must have been fantastic in the company of Paakantji man.
kind regrads Malgo

wow, this is very impressive! I love desert landscapes!
Not only the land is sculpted so originally but also you have captured the view in a beautiful light. The deep long shadows introduce the feeling of depth.
This is so much different from what we are used to in Europe!
