Photographer's Note

Mt. Ngauruhoe, now made famous by Lord Of The Rings, is one of NZ's most active volcanoes. It reaches 2291m and is located in the middle of Tongariro National Park. It last erupted in 1977.
For me, the hike to the top was one of the most amazing I had ever done. The views from the snow covered crater at the top, of half the North Island, bizare desolate vocanic lanscapes, and beautiful green and blue lakes is something I won't soon forget. It was for me definelty the highlight of NZ.

The pic is a scan of a print from an old point and shot. No cropping or color adjustment, but I did remove an ugly pole from the middle.
