Photographer's Note

Another photo from last weekend's photo-walk in Sorrento. Klaudio has already uploaded a shot of this jetty with the well maintained yellow shed on the end. There are several of these privately owned jettys, which reach into the shallow waters of Port Philip Bay for the pleasure of the quite rich people who live in houses backing on to the beach. Many of Melbourne's welthiest families have holiday houses in Sorrento and the neighbouring town, Portsea. In the background is the Sorrento to Queenscliff car ferry which crosses this narrow part of the bay in about 40 minutes, and departs every hour for 12 hours each day. Somehow, the small dinghy being gently tossed by the wavelets of the incoming tide seems rather too humble to be connected with any of the owners of the private jettys.
