Photographer's Note

A girl tries her hand at sand boarding on the largest Silver Lake sand dune. Most people try it just a couple of times because walking back up is a lot of work.

The Silver Lake sand dunes are 1.5 miles wide by 3 miles long. The lake is approximately 1 mile by 2.5 miles and only about 22 feet deep at its deepest point. Hence it is much warmer than nearby Lake Michigan and great for swimming and water sports.

The shot I uploaded yesterday depicts the backside of this dune.

I manually blurred the background a bit for a shallower depth-of-field, otherwise I didn't do any special post processing.
