Photographer's Note

I saw the sun beginning to get low in the sky. I said to my wife: "We've got to go NOW!" We leapt into the car and drove down the Burr Trail near Boulder, Utah. In a few minutes the sun was even lower, and we arrived inside the canyon just in time to see the red sandstone ablaze. We made it just in time!

This photo is kind of an experiment: just a flat wall and the sky. I like it a lot, but I'd love you comments. Just cropped, sharpened and adjusted for TE size, by the way.

The Burr Trail was unpaved until a few years ago. The paving of this landmark scenic drive came with lots of controversy. Everything that deals with the environment and preserving wilderness in Utah comes with lots of controversy!

This happens to be in the middle of the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument, designated so by President Clinton a few years ago. Many of the citizens here resent this act, but I for one am glad that my grandchildren will be able to see this long after I'm gone.
