USA - New York City - The Vessel

Manhattan's newest destination, the Vessel, has been shown before by Brenda.
If I am not mistaken, no other pictures of it have appeared on TE. (Not yet. But Craig, Lars and Rob will return to New York ...)

You get five of the Vessel here today. To get a better idea of the construction, it will certainly not be enough just to look at the main photo.
Don't worry: there are only five. I still have tons of others ... :)

The construction began in April 2017. The Vessel opened on March 15, 2019.
Perhaps you can consider the Vessel as a combination of a building, a work of art and a monument.
The day I visited the Vessel was extremely windy. That made the climb of the stairs a bit more adventurous.

The main picture shows what you see when you're standing down is in the middle and look straight up.

The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed.
This interactive artwork was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points.

Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs - almost 2.500 individual steps and 80 landings - the vertical climb offers remarkable views of the city, the river and beyond.
But wherever you are on this construction, the view of the Vessel itself remains the most amazing.
