Hoover Dam Artistic Impressions
The best way to view the pictures is to use the links below.
There are several attractive ways to experience the many aspects of an impressive construction like the Hoover Dam.
I’ve posted some wider views to give an impression of the grandeur of this enormous project. Close up images of construction-parts, prohibition signs, power towers and intake towers.
Today some artistic impressions. Not with the eyes of a tourist visiting interesting landmarks, but with the eyes of a visitor in a museum for modern art.
◙ The main picture is a diptych of two picture with the shadow of an intake tower in the green water of Lake Mead
◙ The first workshop is a diptych with two scenes of the contrast between the white concrete of the dam against the dark green of the lake.
◙ The second workshop is a graphical presentation of the silhouette of a power tower against the soft blue of the sky.
■ Main picture: ◙ Diptych Intake Tower Shadow
■ Workshop 1: ◙ Diptych Contrast Dam-Lake
■ Workshop 2: ◙ Silhouettes

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I’m not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Hello Rob,
It's amazing what an experienced museum-goer with an artistic mind can find at a construction site. These photos could all be enlarged and hung on a gallery wall. I think you enjoyed the Hoover Dam so much you hardly noticed the heat. I wonder if you will have yet one more surprise for us.
Have a nice weekend,
Gert

Bonjour, cher ami Rob,
Que dire devant de telles réalisations, sinon bravo pour avoir su et trouver la façon de créer des oeuvres d'art à partir d'existants industriels et électriques THT !
Les résultats sont parlants !

Hi Rob,
The scene is impressive. The point of view is showing the shadow of the intake tower. You have c aptured well the ripples on the water. Have a nice day.

Dag Rob,
Uw foto maakt indruk, niet tegenstaande het onderwerp klein is.
De verschillende kleuren in de weerspiegeling is al mooi op zich.
Precies reliëf on het water.
Eenvoudig but vakkundig opgesteld, bedankt.
Groeten uit een licht mistig Vlaanderen,
John.

Hallo Rob,

Amicalement

Hello Rob,
There is no doubt that your appreciation of a site and your resulting photographs are strongly affected by your huge interest in art.
You have produced three examples, each of which could have been a main post, which are fine examples of modern art!
I love the simplicity, the strong lines and colours.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Rob,
A good duo of these twin shadows thrown by the dam structures across the water. Excellent sharpness and well framed and composed. The diagonal line starting in the bottom right corner adds linear perspective. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
This is another attractive and artistic presentation. I like the main photo the best because of the beautiful color of the water, and the strong shadows. It's nice to appreciate a subject in a less direct way, and see it with a fresh perspective, as you did here.

Hello Rob,
I like the almost-abstract feature of these photos. (My criterion for purely abstract is that I should not be able to recognize the subject for what it is.) The main entry is a collage of two nice minimalist photos, well done!
Regards,
MT
