On my way to the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, Virginia, I was passing by a horse farm when I spotted a group of horses in a paddock. I could not resist pulling off the road to shoot a few photos of "nature's beautiful animals." The American Quarter Horse is an American breed of horse that excels at sprinting short distances. Its name comes from its ability to outdistance other horse breeds in races of a quarter mile or less; some individuals have been clocked at speeds up to 55 mph (88.5 km/h).
Virginia was settled by the British in 1607, becoming the first of England's colonies in the New World. The early years were especially harsh, with shortages of food and skirmishes with hostile natives taking their toll. Farther north in New England, it was at Plymouth Rock, in what would become the Colony of Massachusetts, that the British settled in 1620. After the American War of Independence a century and a half later, the 13 colonies were conjoined as the United States (4th of July, 1776), with George Washington being elected the first President. There have been 44 Presidents elected in the United States, with 8 of them coming from Virginia, including four of the first five — Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe. Thomas Jefferson, the third President, author of the Declaration of Independence, Founder of the University of Virginia, Secretary of State and Ambassador to France, is generally regarded as the most brilliant of the Presidents. Educated as a lawyer at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, he founded the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1819, and died on Independence Day, 4th of July 1826. The area around Charlottesville is regarded as horse country.
Warm regards to my friends at Trekearth.

An excellent capture of these two horses in a very nice sunlight. The cloudy sky also adds to the fine mood you managed to get here. The horses stand out perfectly from their background and I like the curious look on their faces.

Bonsoir, cher Bulent,

Hi dear Bullent
Very intresting note and nice image, I understand the situation in USA. Just for your reference, in Japan the original Japanese speices are unfortunately extincted.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

You saw these horses in a beautiful area where you could provide them with a fine background of two tones of green. The combination of dark clouds and a warm light always has a beautiful effect.

Excellent capture of this pair of magnificent creatures. I like very much the lights and colours. Clarity is beyond reproach.

We are both in the horses busines today...
Beautiful animals that not a daily common scene we can do from such a close range.
Fine photo of those two beautiful animals.

I like generally animals but also sure horses, this are wonderful, horses.
A pity of the working above of the photoshop, in the green vegetation, but this is not important.
You create a very well depth and perspective picture, and panorama too.
An excellent composition, TFS
Have a nice day,

I used to be mad keen on horses, as a teenager, and had a most interesting book which detailed all the breeds of horse. The American quarter horse was well up on y list of favourites.
You have really done them justice, with this shot, showing their strong, elegant legs and attractive frame.
These horses seem quite interested in you, moving forward for a portrait!
It's a well composed shot, very engaging!
Have a lovely day,

the two horses are beautiful and the setting looks so neat, peaceful and appealing too. The close point of view, the horses' movement and the shadows created by a not very convenient angle of the light, made this capture quite challenging; it's great that you turned the difficulties into advantages. The shadows are clear and smooth, the movement enhances the contact with the viewer, the colours are lovely and the scene looks so natural. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Selamlar Bülent Bey,
These are magnificent horses, well framed in this neat photograph. A very Happy New Year to you and your family, too!
PS. To answer your question about the color of the floor, that is the strangest thing, the floor was brown. So the color shift was not constant across the spectrum.

A pleasant shot of these two horses. As always an interesting and informative note. The horses are posing nicely for you and seems to be curious of the photographer. The stormy sky provides a fine backdrop for the scene. Fine work:)
Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your family, Erling

Effective tight framing with good sharpness and dof. I like the horse at right having its head lower than the one at left. Tfs!

Ciao dear Bulent
What a lovely pair of horses. And the light really is superb, with the looming grey sky in the background, it looks like you and the horses are about to witness a downpour. Excellent double portrait and interesting note. Thanks for sharing and I hope you and the family had a lovely Christmas together.
Wishing you every happiness in 2017

You've got an excellent image of these horses certainly seem to be enjoying themselves and I especially love the colour contrast. Excellent 'close-encounter' that they are just wonderful to view and nothing nicer than seeing the adorable animals. Looks so crisp & clean, I think you achieved what you were after. Nice capture and thks to your in depth write-up. Congrats
