Waiting for the Music
After our long day at the Olympic Peninsula, we made a last stopover in a small town called Gig Harbor, where we wanted to have dinner. It turned out a festival was taking place and a lively atmosphere had filled the streets of the town and many people were waiting for a concert to begin, as you can see here. I later found out that it was National Night Out, a so-called community-police awareness-raising event, held annually on the first Tuesday in August.
Gig Harbor, located on the shores of the bay of the same name, an arm of Puget Sound, has got a population of just over 7,000 people. One of the towns claiming to be the ‘Gateway to the Olympic Peninsula’, it is located not far from the city of Tacoma.

Hallo Lars,
Wat een aparte naam voor deze plaats!
Een mooi gedetailleerde foto met een drukte van jewelste. Het geheel ademt een aangename zomerse sfeer uit waarbij de natuur heel dichtbij staat.
De dichte bossen en het water met de vele boten zorgen voor een prachtig decor.

Hello Lars, What surprise it was for you! It looks like a nice event. Have you also heard the concert? I am not sure about acoustic in such a place, but not important with this lively atmosphere and wonderful view of the harbour.

Note très intéressante à propos d'un concert, mais sur quoi reposait le concert (musique classique, militaire, pop, ...)! ;o)

Hello Lars,
It's a slight change of style for you with such a lot of people, but you captured an exciting atmosphere with lots of colours on a beautiful day. Beyond the crowd there is a great view of the marina and the hill full of trees. It serves the composition well that two persons are standing relatively close to the camera, engaged in a conversation, since most of the audience are looking to the side.

The 2 central rows of chairs add linear perspective towards the lake. A colorful array of people and chairs in the fg that contrast well with the uniform green conifers. Tfs!

Hello Lars,
When I read your notes, I was surprised to find you referencing a small town, not the adjective that came to mind when I perused your photograph. Of course, all became clear as I read on! What I am suggesting is how well you have captured this special day, full of people and anticipation.
It's colourful, its animated and yet, there is still a definite guide line through the crowd to ensure that the marina and the conifer crowded environment is registered.

Looks a delightful venue for an outdoor concert. The sense of anticipation amongst the crowd is well evoked and we also get the opportunity to see some of the lovely surroundings. Very well realised with excellent colours and clarity.

Maar in een gezellige omgeving zijn de mensen eerder zeer rustig.
De haven en de bossen in de achtergrond zijn mooi meegenomen op de foto.

It's always a nice surprise to accidentally end up on a local festival on a smaller place. Setting is just lovely with harbour full of boats and splendid sunshine. I can imagine how many people knew each other there. I hope the concert was good too.

Excellent candid shot of lively crowd and some eye popping colour really add interest to this quite a large gathering but the ladies hold the focus as effective anchor point. We can appreciate vividness of details, warmness feel and contrast with the viewpoint extends the length smoothly into the well featured background.
