What a surprise...how nice to call this in my footsteps ;-)
It's a small park, but you made it and more important, you made it in creating a Fuji Velvia 50 colour shot. The deep red and blue, so typical Utah when having the best light.
It's good having rain, after that the colours are even more intense, but too much rain can spoil everything of course. But this is one is really beautiful (better than mine..!!!). I love those dark red peaks standing proud above against the deep blue sky, and also the grass in front in a green/yellow toning. Our footsteps are mixed because more or less we stood at the same spot...how weird ;-)
How was the trip, had a good time together, not too much rain i hope and did you get the things you were hoping for?

Good morning, Kristine! THIS is where you were, where got carried away ;))) We have tented there last year and it belongs to my favorite spots for camping. You hear nothing during the night, dead silent. An experience of a life time. Yes the rain clouds, same here in Grand Junction, but we go flying anyway, we are at the airport right now, Benno preparing, weather briefing etc. Beautiful very beautiful shot, Kristine, the warm light on the rocks are fantastic but also how you managed to have the clouds 'run' a little, I like that a lot. Perfect shot indeed. And do you know what, they always say it should not rain now, same last year ... actually where ever we go, it can be Italy or Canada, Australia or France ... LOL. I hope you enjoyed the trip, despite the many tourists ... we are off the beaten track, away from anything where we stay, so when we went to Moab the other day it seemed 'crowded' ... not so for Swiss standards of course ... Hello Kristine -

Yes, this is very much like a Henk image. But, you could not go wrong at Kodachrome Basin with dramatic light, bang on composition, and the clouds to highlight the sky. The rain was just the added touch. Well seen and presented!

As a side light I just finished going through some old film of the region and as Henk said you sure captured that "Fuji Moment."

The gods are on your side, definitely! And this shot makes me regret that I canceled my SW drive this October (had to be done, though; too many other things already planned).

Great choice to give so much space to the sky; it actually emphasizes the monoliths. Great light management, too; the fg light backed by the shadows also emphasizes the light on the rocks.

Welcome back! So soon, Okay I won't rub it in, cause I'm sure you still wish to be out there. I find this very precious, the moment that despite the weather condistion, the sky cleared just for a a little while to let us photographers have our one moment, and you're right there when the window opens. The light off course is the show here and the dark cloud enhanced it so nicely yet there's that white one up there competing for attention. The winners here are those rocks. Of many places I have been to in Utah, I haven't yet been here, so it's really great see this shot. Thanks.

Hi, Kristine. The colours on the rocks are really amazing. They look kind of unreal, but when you see the green in the foreground and the blue in the sky, you believe more in it. There are very good contrasts and the vegetation in the foreground gives a good depth to the image.

A shot that perfectly captures the looks and essence of Kodachrome Basin. Light, colors, and that unique intimate atmosphere are right here on display, exactly as I like to remember them. VERY GOOD!!! Together with Tropic Canyon, one of my favorite spots in the area to escape Bryce's moronic crowds when they get too much for me to bear...

I have no idea why it is not called Fujichrome of Afgachrome. Does Kodak owns this place?

Despite the name, I fully understand your motif to see and shoot this one, because after I see your post, I feel the same way. So maybe 1 day I will follow your footsteps [hope they are not giant feet :)]

Perfect time to get the cloud in position and with this strong light. Very good strong tones.

Is there any possible way you can use your charm and force the clouds to come lower?

I quite like the slight shadow.

For sure, the oranges of Utah are superb in this shot. I love that dreamy cloud above with the composition spot on here. A fine read of your note also, always a treat to read your exploits when travelling.

Woow! This is true to the name of the photographic company for sure. I remember seeing a picture of this Basin quite a while back & was wondering about the name (which was clarified), but I don't remember seeing anything as gorgeous as this! The "Intense Red Light" switch :-)...I don't know how I can express this in words..maybe the colours on the rain soaked rocks are more intense...three bands of colours, green, red & blue, makes the red rocks stand out. Simply superb!

You really captured the sense of the clouds just parting, we can see the veil to the right. In addition, the angle of the light and the layers of color all make this very special.

It is a very interesting shot.
The colors a bit crazy, as is the contrast, but the final effect may be a bit unearthly but really picturesque.
Your composition is very original.

Thank's God of the photo! (I perceive him in the cloud!!!) this composition where the zones of colors succeed one another horizontally: light green, dark green, ochre grey gold-coloured and blue dark red is really extraordinary.
I am happy that you were able to attend this show and to share it with us.

Hi Kristine,

I love the vibrant color on the stone .. it leaps away from the rest of the image and off my screen .. even without the sunset shades incredibly interesting light and tone .. I love the dark shadows on the rock as well. very nice.

Hello Kristine,

After my two months' summer break away from computer screens, it's a pleasure on this rainy morning to browse through your uploads. There are so many great shots, very different from what I try to do, but do I like them!

This one caught my special attention because of the title. (I miss Henk here.) Friends have suggested either Chili or the US as a future destination for us, your pictures are another very, very strong argument.
