Photographer's Note

Back to my Hawaii series.
Huge numbers of people visit the summit and crater areas of the Haleakala volcano on Maui at dawn. I decided to drive up when they were all coming down and had a very peaceful time up there.
The area around the summit is quite bleak and almost desert like but at over 3,000 metres. In the distance you can see the observatory in the centre and the summit on the left.

Best in the large view.
