Photographer's Note

Cadet's Cove (Kate's Cove - named after an Indian's wife), has been kept to be like it was back in 1800; however, many of the houses hidden in the woods no longer exist. The churches, houses and a central area where the blacksmith worked show how far apart people lived and how remote life was.

I can really see being thrilled to have a friend come over to visit - or how suspicious of a stranger in the night one might be. Also, how much appreciation of nature, yet feeling so helpless the seasons and the weather.

My family has roots in America from the 1700s and I imagine they lived just like this.
