Photographer's Note

This is a scanned pic. from 5/1978, I took this in JFK, NYC , when an Air-France Concord arrived and parked on the tarmac, disembarking passengers from Paris.
Those impressive airplanes already out of service from 2000, in the wake of a disastrous crash near Paris. Here is a Wikipedia page about the crash. Do not know if this was the one that crashed, though.
It was the first SST jet (Super-Sonic-Transport jet), first flown on 1969, entered service in 1976 by British-Airways and Air-France, cruising between NY and Paris/London at a speed Mach 2.04 (~2,179 kilometres per hour), meaning more than twice of the speed of sound, it's max. cruising altitude was about 56,000 ft (17,000 m).
Saw it taking-off later that day, the roar was ears-deafening, yet spectacular.

*** Cropped a bit from lower part after the scan, originally in colors and reduced "noise".
