Art & Architecture

Today the combination "Art & Architecture". The photos are taken from the Campus Martius Park in Detroit.

The art is represented by the sculpture "Waiting" by KAWS.
The architecture is the One Campus Martius Building with a reflection in the facade of the Guardian Building.

KAWS is the artist name of Brian Donnelly, an American artist born in New Jersey 1974.
"Waiting" (2018) is a new work from his series "Companion" figures and presents "a parent and child in a moment of pause". Characteristic of this series are the Mickey Mouse-like figures. Already in 2015 I made pictures of the images "At this Time" and "Better Knowing" from this series, at the open-air exhibition "Art Zuid" in Amsterdam.

One Campus Martius building located in 1000 Woodward Ave, downtown Detroit, was finished in 2003. It has 17 floors in total, 15 above-ground, and 2 below-ground.
Design and construction are of Rossetti Associates, Hamilton Anderson Associates, LAW
The high-rise is built as an office building with a restaurant, retail units, space for the Compuware and a fitness centre, as well as atrium.
The building was constructed in a late-modernist architectural style, using glass, granite and limestone as its main materials.
