Photographer's Note

More from the archive, this time from a working trip I had to China and the two days I had to spend in Hong Kong waiting for a multiple entry China visa to be approved.

I spent two days in Hong kong for this wait, and the second of those two days I had time to do some sightseeing of a place I had heard so much of but never really been able to see before.

Hong Kong presented itself as expected: A true mix of the old and traditional, and the new and modern.
From the worn down bustling narrow streets of Kowloon to the spot clean steel and glass skyscrapers of Hong Kong island.

One thing I found facinating were these old ferries crisscrossing Victoria Harbour. Old and worn down boats, filled to the brim or only with a few passengers, constantly going back and forth over the very busy harbour.
Later when I checked some background of Star Ferry I was suprised to find that these ferries have been running since way back in 1871, and the oldest current running ferry has been in servie for over 60 years(!)

They are still going strong, but regrettably I have still to travel with one of them.
Maybe next time I go to Hong Kong.
