Photographer's Note

My last three uploads (four of my last five, actually) seem to have featured pairs of people in various settings, so let's make it one more.

In Chester, on the Eastgate arch, I stood under the famous Eastgate Clock - claimed to be the second most photographed in Britain (after Big Ben), or even in the world, according to Chester's tourist office! - and watched the man in Eastgate Street try, largely in vain, to engage the passing hordes with his message of Redemption. I took a couple of photos before the other, younger fellow came and stood a few metres away with his own Good News for the passing crowd. I must say that the more spiritual of the two seemed far more animated and optimistic on the whole, but here, for a moment, he looks slightly confused about the arrival of competition. He needn't have worried; the fish and chips man effected a doleful, somnolent presence as he leaned lethargically on his poster.

I will upload a view of the arch and clock as a WS, and perhaps another view of Eastgate Street in the near future. The arch is part of the Roman/medieval ramparts which surround the old town.
